Ikea is starting to phase out the incandescent light bulbs from their stores shelves. This is most likely in response to the federal mandated ban that with take full effect in 2012.This decision is no surprise in spring 2010 ikea made the announcement that they are switching to more environmental forms of light bulbs. Ikea hopes that this decision will help with the energy crisis of the era.
As a part of ikea’s life improvement project, which was created to help with things like education, and the improvement of communities as well as the people that live in them, ikea set up a contest, and offered a sabbatical, a $100,000 budget for, both to help people as well as to live on, and a trip to a spa resort.
Ikea is also offering to donate $1 to Save Children’s U.S. programs for every vote of one of the five finalists, until $50,000 is raised. Voting runs to the 17th of January, and the winner will be announced on the 31st. To vote go to www.thelifeimprovementproject.com.
